Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card – Manually Configure TCP/IP Settings

Published date: 07 May 2019

Issue:
The Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card needs valid TCP/IP settings to connect to Schneider Electric cloud services. The card, by default, requires a properly configured DHCP or BOOTP server to provide its TCP/IP settings. However, in some cases, you must manually configure the TCP/IP settings for your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card.

Product Line:
Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card (AP9649)

Environment:
Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Resolution:

Follow the steps below to manually configure TCP/IP settings for your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card:
  1. Ensure your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card is firmly inserted in the SmartSlot of your Smart-UPS device.
  2. Connect the USB console cable from the Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card to the USB port on your PC. NOTE: Use the USB cable that is included in the box of your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card.
  3. Open File Explorer on your PC. Your card will be listed under “Devices and drives” as “AP9649 Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card”. Click on the card and open its “Internal Shared Storage”. You must configure the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) settings for your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card before you can access its MTP interface. For more information, see Knowledge Base article FA368319.
  4. Open the card’s configuration file (config.ini) using a text editor, e.g. Notepad++.
  5. Edit the “[NetworkTCP/IP]” and “[NetworkDNS]” sections of the configuration file and add your IP settings. The default values are:
[NetworkTCP/IP]
;    BootMode=DHCP Only|Manual|BOOTP Only.
Override=28 29 86 0B 80 75
SystemIP=0.0.0.0
SubnetMask=0.0.0.0
DefaultGateway=0.0.0.0
BootMode=DHCP Only
PortSpeed=Auto
PingResponse=enabled

[NetworkDNS]
PrimaryDNSServerIP=0.0.0.0
SecondaryDNSServerIP=0.0.0.0
DNSManualOverride=enabled

NOTE:
  • If you set the BootMode to Manual, you must also enable at least one server IP in the “[NetworkDNS]” section.
  • If the TCP/IP or DNS settings are configured incorrectly, the Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card will not connect to Schneider Electric cloud services.
6. Save the config.ini file on your PC.
7. Copy the edited config.ini from your PC to your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card.
