Ask a Question

Can a BMENOS0300 switch be used in an M580 Hot Standby local backplane?

Yes. There are rules/restrictions that must be followed.

1. You can not use a BMENOS0300 in the local M580 Hot Standby backplane if ERIO drops are used.
2. You can not use a BMENOS0300 in the local M580 Hot Standby backplane if an BMENOC0301/11 is used with the Ethernet backplane port enabled.

To summarize, only one device can access the backplane port in an M580 Hot Standby configuration. Either the CPU with ERIO modules or one BMENOS0300 or one BMENOC0301/11.

The Ethernet backplane port of each BMENOS0300 module is enabled by default and will cause the Hot Standby system to cease functioning properly if the rules are not followed.
