How to add the I-Line Smart Cell device into Power Monitoring Expert

Issue
Customer would like to incorporate the I-Line Smart Cell into their existing power monitoring system.

Product Line
I-Line Smart Cell

Environment
SPM7.0.1, PME7.2.2, PME8.0, and PME8.1

Resolution
To add the I-Line Smart Cell into Power Monitoring Expert, first identify the communication component. Using the table below, find the corresponding communication device (ie. IFE, IFM, EM3555, or EM3560).

Catalog Number Voltage Feature Additional Circuit Breaker Notes
ICWL*2222E1M0 120 Vac - 240 Vac 1 IFE Ethernet Modbus TCP interface with basic Web pages Contains 1 IFE, with space for 6 additional IFMs
ICWL*2422E1M0 277 Vac - 480 Vac
ICWL*2222M01 120 Vac - 240 Vac 1 IFM Modbus serial interface Contains 1 IFM, optional 8 additional IFMs, for a total of 9 monitored circuit breakers
ICWL*2422M01 277 Vac - 480 Vac
ICWL*263X3555 120 Vac - 600 Vac EM3555 Meter Contains 1 power meter
ICWL*263X3560 120 Vac - 600 Vac EM3560 Meter

Adding the IFE as an Ethernet Device
  1. Open Management Console
  2. Click the Devices icon.
  3. Right-click the display window and select New > Ethernet Device.
  4. Fill in the Group, Name, Device Type and TCP/IP Address fields. Configure the other fields as you require.

Adding the IFM as a Serial Device on Ethernet Gateway
To set up devices for Ethernet gateway communications, first add and configure an Ethernet
gateway site.

  1. Open Management Console
  2. Click the Sites icon.
  3. Right-click the display window and select New > Ethernet Gateway Site.
  4. Fill in these fields:
  • Name
  • TCP/IP Address
  • TCP/IP Port: The TCP/IP Port identifies which communications port is used to connect to the serial devices. The port you use depends on the type of Ethernet gateway you want to set up (i.e., use 7801 for an EtherGate gateway via COM1 or use port 502 for a Modbus gateway).
  1. Click the Devices icon.
  2. Right-click the display window and select New > Serial Device on Ethernet Gateway Site.
  3. Fill in these fields:
  • Group: Type a name for the group or select an existing group from the list.
  • Name: Type the name you want to give the device.
  • Device Type: Select the type of Micrologic trip unit.
  • Unit ID: Type the Modbus address of the IFM, as specified by the IFM's two rotary address switches.
  • Site: Select the Ethernet gateway site you previously set up.

NOTE: The Micrologic IFE/IFM devices are natively supported in PME 8.x. However, a device driver is required for PME 7.2.2.

  1. Click the Devices icon.
  2. Right-click the display window and select New > Serial Device on Ethernet Gateway Site.
  3. Fill in these fields:
  • Group: Type a name for the group or select an existing group from the list.
  • Name: Type the name you want to give the device.
  • Device Type: Select "EM3500 series".
  • Unit ID: Type the Modbus address of the EM 3550 or EM3560
  • Site: Select the Ethernet gateway site you previously set up.

NOTE: The EM3500 series is natively support in PME 7.2.2 and PME 8.x. However, a device driver is required for SPM 7.0.1.
