Product Line
Power Monitoring Expert Data Center 8.1 (PMEDC 8.1)

Environment

Applying service pack 3 for SQL Server 2012 has broken the web application.  Now during the upgrade, the installer fails to pass the check and configuration fails.

Resolution
*Warning: Take backups of any files prior to modifying them. Ensure the backups are in a location that will not be overwritten (i.e. the Desktop).

Step 1: Bypass the step corresponding to this section in the installer

a) In the installer go to ...\setup\BrokerFragments\ folder.

b) Open the SystemDataService.broker.xml in Notepad

c) Find the section below and comment it:

      <Request Name="WriteWebFrameworkConfiguration" EstTime="500" TimeOut="600000" UIName="#ConfiguringWebFramework" ActionOnFail="Stop">
          ...
          ...
      </Request>

NOTE: To comment a section use the <!-- opening and --> closing tags (example: <!-- this phrase is commented -->).

d) Save and close the file.  Start the installer again.

Step 2: Once the installer finishes, run the attached script in SQL Server Management Studio to manually configure the WebApplication database.
*Warning: Irreparable database damage can occur. This procedure should only be performed by users familiar with SQL Server Management Studio. Databases should be backed up prior to performing this procedure.*

a) Open SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the Instance where PME is running.

b) Go to File -> Open -> File..., select the file saved from the attachment
