Ask a Question

Can I enable a Lexium SD328 stepping motor drive if the motor is not connected?

Yes, it is possible to enable the SD328 drive without a motor connected.
This can be done if you wish to test communication capabilities to the SD328.
However, this will result in error code 5600 (missing motor phase) if the drive is enable

Reading and writing of commands via the fieldbus can be tested without a motor connected to the SD328
The drive will not be damaged if enable without a motor connected, but also, testing for motion will obviously not be possible if there is no motor connected.

Note: Do not under any circumstance disconnect the motor cable while the drive is powered or enabled!  Doing so may result in drive damage.
Only disconnect motor cable from stepper motor drives when the power is removed.
