How to establish communication between ClearSCADA and Quantum PLC by OPC.

Follow these steps to establish communication between ClearSCADA & Quantum PLC using OPC protocol.

1. Create a Unity Pro project, make the harwdware configuration, configure the IP address of the NOE ethernet port.



2. Create some variables in the project, save, build the whole project and download it to the PLC.



3. Right click on the elementary variables then export the variable list file in .xvm format.



4. Open the OFS Configuration Tool > Right click and create a New Device Alias and rename it.



5. Enter the PLC IP address in the Device address field. In the Symbol table file, browse and select the .XVM file which we saved before. In the Preload settings select the Symbol table option. Now save and close the OFS Configuration window.



6. Now Open ClearSCADA ViewX > Right click on the folder > select New > select OPC > select Scanner.



7. Create a new OPC server by right clicking on the folder > select New > select OPC > select Server.



8. Double click on the New Server to open the New Server configuration window. Select the In Service checkbox > select the Connection Type as Local Server from the drop down list > browse and select the OPC Server Name as OFS. Now save and close the configuration window.



9. Double click on the New Scanner and select the Scanner tab  > Select the In Service checkbox > browse and select the Server then save and close the configuration window.



10. Right click on New Server and click on the View status. If communication settings are correct State value should show as online and Quality should show good.



11. Right click on the folder > select new  > select OPC > select Analog Point.



12. Double click and open the analog point configuration window > select the OPC tab > In the Scanner option browse and select the Scanner > In the Tag Name field browse and select the OPC tag. Now save and close the point  configuration window.



13. Right click on the analog point and click on the view status. In the Current Value you will be able to see the value from PLC. Now you can configure the analog points in your screen. Sameway you can create Digital points also.
