How to enable or disable alarms in PowerSCADA Operation?

Published date: 28 May 2019

Issue
Enabling/Disabling alarms

Product Line
PowerSCADA Operation (all versions of PSO)

Environment
Alarm Viewer

Cause
In some cases it may be necessary to mask out PLScada alarms in order to avoid alarms being sent out to recipients.  An example would be a device being tested which could cause multiple communication alarms.  In such cases after the first alarm is received, the user has the option to mask out the alarm until all testing is done.

Resolution
The procedure is explained below:

a) Disable Alarms

1.  User must be logged in to PowerSCADA Runtime Manager. If PSO is running as a service, launch Service Display Client
2.  Navigate to Alarms > Active
3.  Right click on the alarm and from the popup menu select 'Disable'

**Note that after the alarm is disabled, it will disappear from the active alarms list.

b) Enable Alarms

1.  User must be logged in to PLScada Runtime Manager
2.  Navigate to Alarms > Disabled
3.  Right click on any of the alarms shown and from the popup menu select 'Enable'

**Note that after the alarm is enabled, it will disappear from the disabled alarms list and once again will be visible in the active alarms list.
