Facts and Changes

Causes and Fixes

The ION Setup installer runs in two stages to successfully install ION Setup. First, ionsetup.exe is self extracted using Winzip into a temporary location (%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings/Temp). Second, the setup.exe file is run to install the actual program.

The first step will fail if the version of Winzip used is not compatible the operating system. This is more likely to happen using an XP version of Winzip on Windows Server 2003.

The error message is displayed once the ionsetup.exe program is launched since the self-extraction failed in the first step.

Install the correct version of WinZip.

Another error can occur if the files are manually extracted without using the correct version of WinZip:

WinZip 6.3-8.0
WinZip 6.3-8.0 has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For an update that is compatible with this version of Window, contact Nico Mak Computing
To run the program, click Continue. For more information, click details.

Select Continue to get ionsetup.exe extracted. The installer will likely run now, but if it does not download the correct version of WinZip.
