How to change the default alarms in a Power Meter 750 using the PowerLogic Meter Configuration Utility (PMCU).

Goals and Symptoms

The Power Meter 750 (PM750) has 13 Standard onboard alarms that are pre-configured to specific parameters (device quantities). The alarms can be reassigned to a different metered parameter by following the procedure below. The procedure requires System Manager Software (SMS) 4.0 SU2 or the PowerLogic Meter Configuration Utility (PMCU).

Causes and Fixes

To make changes to the existing alarms in the PM750 follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Setup>Device/routing> and select the device that requires the change.
  2. Click on the Configure button.
  3. Select the Onboard Alarms/Events tab.
  4. Select the alarm to be changed. (the alarm must be highlighted)
  5. Click on the Modify Alarm button.
  6. Select Standard on the Alarm Type Drop-down Menu
  7. Select the type alarm needed from the Alarm Type Drop-down Menu. (Over or Under?)
  8. Select the Available Parameter needed and move it to the Selected Parameter box.
  9. Type a name for the new alarm in the Label Name box
  10. Click OK
  11. Check the Enable Box
  12. Enter your setpoints and Dropouts required. Notice the Scale Factor at the top right (see red circle on the picture below)
  13. Click Update to save the changes.
  14. Repeat this process for any additional alarms that need to be reassigned.
  15. The alarm and settings can be verified from the front panel. Refer to the PM750 Reference Manual for information on how to setup alarms from the front panel.
