Ask a Question

What would cause an error 'cannot find device 0' when installing the Modbus Plus drivers?

If you check your device configuration, you may find that you have multiple adapters installed e.g. MBX device 0 and MBX device 1. If this is the case, you will need to delete one of the install instances. Below is a path that you can take to remove the path but, be very careful when changing your registry. It would be recommended if you need to do a REGEDIT you should have your IT department do this for you.
Folder = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
System
CurrentControlSet
Services
CLMBX
Parameters
LogicalDeviceX
Delete additional Instance subkeys (other than LogicalDevice0)

MBXRemote
Parameters
LogicalDeviceX
Delete additional Instance subkeys (other than LogicalDevice0)

An easy way to find them is to search the registry (CTRL F) and enter the search string LogicalDevice. Just be sure the data field of logicalDevice is related to the MBX driver.

It is also good practice to backup or export the registry before making any changes.
