ION OPC Data Access Server Service not in Services list

Goals and Symptoms

A customer's OPC client will not connect to the ION server to export data. When checking the Windows Services list to be sure the OPC Service is started and running, or to perform a service restart, the ION OPC Data Access Server service is no longer in the list.

Checking the setuplog file shows an error similar to:

OK (0) 6/13/2012 3:58:40 PM ERROR Unable to stop service PMLOPC. Time out exceeded. Could not stop ION OPC Data Access Server within 60 milliseconds
OK (0) 6/13/2012 3:58:40 PM Removing service:PMLOPC

Causes and Fixes

The service can be registered manually:

Open a command prompt, and type 'ION.OpcDaServer.exe -Service' and the service will re-appear in the services list.
