StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1: SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Upgrade Guide
Goals and Symptoms
SturxureWare Power Monitoring requires a compatible version of SQL Server. If an existing ION Enterprise is using SQL Server 2005 Express on a compatible operating system, it is possible to replace SQL Server 2005 Express with a supported version of SQL Server. This is a prerequisite for an upgrade from ION Enterprise to StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1

Causes and Fixes
The attached pdf describes how to 'upgrade' your SQL Server version from SQL Server 2005 Express to SQL Server 2008 R2. This is only applicable for single server, stand-alone systems. It requires you to uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express, and then install a new instance of SQL Server 2008 R2.
Although an in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2005 Express to SQL Server 2008 R2 is supported by Microsoft, we do not recommend this approach. We recommend the procedure described in the attached pdf. There is an additional zip file attached to this article that includes files that will be needed during the procedure described in the attached pdf file.
