The hotel has superb facilities for meetings, seminars, conferences, weddings, and grand celebrations, which host up to 320 guests. Additionally, the hotel has six restaurants and bars which offer a wide range of cuisines from a la carte Asian and international to Japanese and Cantonese. Located in Ho Chi Minh City's bustling Phu Nhuan District, the Mövenpick Hotel Saigon is a short ten minute drive from Tan Son Nhat International Airport and a 15 minutes drive from the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

Customer objectives
The objective of the Movenpick Hotel was to completely rennovate their 10-year-old hotel with new HVAC, security, lighting, and wiring solutions. Contstraints included a specific, fixed budget and a tight deadline. The project had to be completed in no more than 12-14 month as the hotel completely shut down during this time, resulting in loss of revenue.

Customer benefits
The biggest benefit to the customer is that they were able to rely on one solution provider for all their needs, that met their fixed budget, and finished the project on-time. This 10-year-old property has been completely renovated with an optimized energy solution, a new and improved look, as well as improved interior design with their lighting control.

Implementation Methodology
Schneider Electric was able to meet with the top decision maker of the project and worked closely with him and his team to propose a complete solution that fell within their budget. The management of the hotel specificed that they required a provider who could optimize their budget by providing optimal solutions. Schneider Electric and the Movenpick management team worked very closely to ensure all expectations were met in terms of solutions provided, delivered on-time and within a fixed budget.

Duration
The project timeline was approximately 14 months, beginning in December 2009 and completing in January 2010.

How did we estimate the energy savings
The renovation included implementing several energy conservation measures. Moving from 2 chillers to 1 was the first step; the optimized management of this chiller sequencing significantly improved energy efficiency. Additionally, installing variable speed drives had a direct impact on the equipment life-cycle, as well as reducing energy consumption. Through a simplified lighting control solution, the staff is now able to control the use of lights throughout the day in different areas of the hotel, which in another way we improved energy efficiency.

Schneider Electric differentiating values VS competitors
There were two main differentiating factors between Schneider Electric and its competitors: (1) Schneider Electric was able to offer one complete solution, customizable to meet the customer's needs and (2) the strong commitment, support, and expertise of the sales team.

Solutions included
Andover Continuum, Pelco video surveillance, C-Bus (lighting and audio control), and low-voltage.

Renovation included reducing the chillers from 2 to 1 and installing new air-handling units. Andover Continuum manages the chiller sequencing, as well as the temperature controls in public areas such as the corridor and lobby. The electrical distribution system for this new chiller was also provided, as well as variable speed drives to control the pumps and fans. Surveillance systems were installed to monitor the critical areas of the hotel such as the lobby and car park, as well as the mechanical and electrical rooms.

Through a C-Bus lighting control solution, lighting control in the function rooms, meeting rooms, and lobby was simplified. This allowed simple integration to the audio system.
To provide a better guest experience in the guest rooms, all switches and sockets were renewed and a connectivity panel installed allowing for simple connectivity of the guests' multimedia devices to the television.
