Ask a Question

Why does the 140CPS12420 appear to run normally on a 115 VAC source when the power supply is strapped for 220 VAC operation ?

At 115 VAC the power supply will operate at the low end of the 220 VAC range  However there will be a problem with the hold up time generated by the
CPS when it operates in this manner. The power supply design incorporates a large electrolytic capacitor which is charged during the power up routine.
If you under power the CPS the amount of energy stored in this capacitor may be insufficient to allow the CPU to perform a logical shut down when
AC mains is interrupted. This may well result in a corrupted program and you will need to reload the application.
