Ask a Question

Can I use a LXM32 digital output to control a brake through a SSR?

Using an external SSR to control a brake on a LXM32 servo drive.

Product Line:
Lexium 32 servo drives

Highly electromagnetic environment

The drive's built in relay that is usually used to control a brake is not guaranteed to function properly in a highly electromagnetic environment so we need to connect an external relay, far from the drive.

We do not recommend to use a Solid State Relay or SSR between the drive's output and the brake as this will overheat the brake and the motor, since it will always have 24V applied to it.
We suggest using our brake controller, the HBC, instead of the relay.
Make sure to set the output DQ0 in the drive to 'Active'.
