2007 Daylight Saving Time (DST) Correction for Advanced Reports

Summary


  • In accordance with the changes made to DST by the US Federal Government in 2007, this document contains information in regards to the displaying of logged data by Advanced Reports. This procedure will explain how to update Advanced Reports (System Manager Software add-on) to comply with the DST changes of 2007.




    Symptoms

    When running a report in Advanced Reports with a date range that includes a Daylight Savings Time change, the reported gap in the data will be between 3 am - 3:59 am instead of 2 am - 2:59 am.

Resolution
Follow the steps below to install a software patch that will correct the date/time resolution on data logged after DST has taken effect.

The following three files will be needed, along with this document, to complete the update to the PowerLogic SMS system.

PowerLogic.dll
Policy.4.0.powerlogic.dll
Policy.4.0.powerlogic.config

1. Shut down Advanced Reports if it is running.

2. Shut down the PowerLogic Setup Client.

3. By going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, stop the PowerLogic Network Server, PowerLogic.Database.RptStgDBMainService, and the PLServiceManager services.

4. Open Windows Explorer, and browse to the following directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Square D Shared\PLClassLibrary.

5. Locate the following files within the PLClassLibrary directory: PowerLogic.dll, Policy.4.0.powerlogic.dll, and Policy.4.0.powerlogic.config

6. Rename the files to OLD_PowerLogic.dll, OLD_Policy.4.0.powerlogic.dll, and to OLD_Policy.4.0.powerlogic.config.

7. Within Windows Explorer, create a folder on the C:\ drive called SQDBACKUP.



8. Place the files OLD_PowerLogic.dll, OLD_Policy.4.0.powerlogic.dll, and OLD_Policy.4.0.powerlogic.config inside the SQDBACKUP folder.

9. Go back to the directory, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Square D Shared\PLClassLibrary, and make sure the files named OLD_PowerLogic.dll, OLD_Policy.4.0.powerlogic.dll, and OLD_Policy.4.0.powerlogic.config are not there. If they are present, delete them from this location only.

10. Copy the new files (PowerLogic.dll, Policy.4.0.powerlogic.dll, Policy.4.0.powerlogic.config) into the following directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Square D Shared\PLClassLibrary.

11. Once the files have been copied over, go to the Start menu and select RUN.12. From the RUN prompt, type “cmd” and press “OK.”


13. The Command Prompt window will appear. At the prompt, type in the following string: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\gacutil.exe /nologo /u "policy.4.0.PowerLogic"


14. Then press ENTER on the keyboard. Once the registration is complete the C:\ prompt cursor will appear.

15. At the next C:\ prompt, type the following string, and press ENTER. C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\gacutil.exe /nologo /u "PowerLogic"

16. The third entry for the C:\ prompt needs to be entered as shown below. Once the string is entered, press ENTER. (Please note: These are not two lines to be entered. The string below is a continuous entry.) C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\gacutil.exe /nologo /f /I "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Square D Shared\PLClassLibrary \policy.4.0.PowerLogic.dll"

17. The final string entry that needs to be made at the next C:\ prompt is listed below. Once, the string has been entered, press the ENTER key. (Please note: These are not two lines to be entered. The string below is a continuous entry.) C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\gacutil.exe /nologo /f /I "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Square D Shared \PLClassLibrary \PowerLogic.dll"

18. Once the final string has been registered. Close the Command Prompt window.

19. Now, the PowerLogic Network Server, PowerLogic.Database.RptStgDBMainService, and the PLServiceManager services can be restarted.

20. Once the PowerLogic Network Server is started, Advanced Reports can be started.
