Log Inserter Creates Downstream Name With Redundant Host Segment

Goals and Symptoms

Summary

  • In ION Enterprise 5.5, Log Inserter creates downstream sources with a redundant host segment (e.g., MyDevice:MyDevice:VIP).

    Symptoms

When a VIP pre-processes register data from an external source prior to capturing it in a Recorder, the Log Inserter generates a source name with a redundant host segment (e.g., MyDevice:MyDevice:VIP when it should be MyDevice:VIP).

Resolution

Fixed in ION Enterprise 5.5 SP1. New source names will be created correctly but existing source names will need to be corrected using the Downstream Assistant. This tool can change both the source definition in the ION_Network database and the associated data in the ION_Data database.

Workaround

Correct using the Downstream Assistant. This tool can change both the source definition in the ION_Network database and the associated data in the ION_Data database.
