'Unity' returns a 'DTM device not found' error when you try to add an 'Ethernet IP' NOE or ETY to the rack.

The problem is happening because the 'DTM' software has not been installed and properly setup.

The following steps can be used to resolve the issue:

  • Shutdown Unity.
  • Install the latest hot fixes for Untiy 5.0.

  • Install the 'Unity Pro Ethernet Configuration Tool' (This is on a CD that is shipped witht he module.)
  • Install the 'Unity Pro Generic Modbus TCP DTM' (This is on the same CD in a seperate folder.).
  • Install the Unity Pro Generic EtherNet IP DTM' (This is on the same CD in a seperate folder).
  • Start 'Unity'.
  • Open the 'Unity' application.
  • Click on 'Tool\Hardware Catalog'

  • Click on 'DTM Catalog'

  • Click on 'External Update Tool'.

  • Click on the 'Update' button in the 'FDT/DTM Catalog' window.

  • Click on the 'OK' button in the message window that appears after the update finishes.


Click on the 'Close' button to close the 'FDT/DTM Catalog' window.

  • Click on the 'Reload catalog' button.

  • Add the Ethernet IP module to the rack.
