Goals and Symptoms
Vijeo designer Lite limitation using chinese characters in alarm texts
Facts and Changes
With Vijeo Designer Lite : when using alarm history function with chinese character, It seems that chinese character cannot display properly. VDL converts alarm texts with chinese characters into ASCII texts.
Causes and Fixes
- The "Alarm panel" field must be filled with ASCII characters only, because usually this text is only used for alarm history printing.
- As XBTN/R/RT terminals support only text printers, so alarm text must always contain ASCII printable characters.
In other words, chinese texts need UNICODE characters, that is why the display under Vijeo-designer Lite appears only with ASCII characters (the original characters are converted by VD Lite into ASCII characters).
Morever, XBTRT500 doesn t support printing feature.
We advise you to recommand to the customer to use only ASCII characters.
