This is a step by step procedure on configuring a M340 CANopen Master to control an Altivar 71 drive.
Step 1. The first step is the configuration of the M340 CANopen Master Communication port.
Double click at the CANopen port on the M340 processor to configure the CANopen Master head.


Step 2. Select the Bus baud rate and input / output words range.


Step 3. Update grid with the IODDT for the CAN head master



Step 4. Add the Slave Device to the CANopen Bus


Step 5. Add the Altivar 71 drive to the CAN bus at address # 1.

Step 6. Select the specific function to your application



Step 7. Enter a name for the slave device using the IO DDT specific for the ATV71 drive.



Step 8. Standard PDO mapping to the Altivar drive is set by the Unity software.



Step 9. Modify the objects mapped for the Altivar drive




Step 10. Add a new object to the Altivar PDO mapping [removing rpm speed setpoint object (2038:3) and adding hertz frequency object (2037:3)]




Step 11. Using the template PLC program, supplied with this document, enter a value to the Frequency Setpoint in Hertz.




Step 12. Cycle the CMD – command word, via the operator screen, through the sequence from the Waiting, Ready, Running and Stop steps (to make the buttons available, you need to press the key F7 when you are at the operator screens window).
