Advantys Configuration Software v2.5 Registration Issue

The purpose of this resolution is to alert Advantys Configuration Software v2.5 users to a multi-user registration issue.

Facts and Changes

Advantys Configuration Software Version 2.5 began shipping and was posted to Pl@net in November 2006.
The issue affects these following part numbers.

STB SPU 1003 3 User License
STB SPU 1011 10 User License
STB SPU 1010 10 User License for internal use
STB SPU 1100 Site License

Please note that STB SPU 1000 (Single User License) is not affected.

Causes and Fixes

Users who have purchased any of the affected part numbers of Version 2.5 software cannot register their software directly using FAX, email or telephone options.

When attempting to register the software through any of these three options, the user is asked for the part name and the serial number that is provided with the software. The registration software will not recognize the part name entered and registration will be unsuccessful.

It is possible to use the Web option directly for registering which allows proper selection of part numbers.

Workarounds:

When the web option for registering is not possible, the following steps can be used.

1) Telephone Method - In the Part Name field, enter STBSPU1000 instead of STBSPU1003/1010/1011. The appropriate Code Entry and Computer ID information will be generated by the registration software. Provide this information to the customer support representative and also let the person know which product you are registering.

2) Fax Method - In the Part Name field, enter STBSPU1000 instead of STBSPU1003/1010/1011 . The appropriate Code Entry and Computer ID info will be generated by the registration software. Then, update the generated FAX sheet by changing the Part Name from STBSPU1000 to the one you are registering.
