'The Advantys Configuration software returns a 'Catalog server component is either missing or not
registered properly' error when an attempt is made to either open a workspace or create a new workspace.

Causes and Fixes

The error 'Catalog server component is either missing or not registered properly' indicates that something
has caused a corruption of the Microsoft Windows operating system registry setting for the Advantys
Configuration software components.

This error could also be the result of the installation or updating of some other third party software which
replaced some of the shared software components (i.e., shared dll's installed in the Windows\System 32
folder by the Advantys Configuration software) with a different version.

Performing a repair on the installation will resolve the problem. The repair can be performed by

  • Inserting the Advantys 2.0 CD
  • Double click in on the Advantys icon for the CD drive to launch the installation setup.
  • Selecting the option named 'Repair' which can be found in the 'Advantys Configuration Software Setup'
window that appears during the installation process.
